Dear Member of the McLean High School Community,

 

Welcome to the McLean Highlander Booster page. The Boosters are excited to start off the 2009/2010 year by continuing the momentum of tremendous success our spring sports program enjoyed at the end of the last school year! 

 

In order to keep this momentum building, we need your help. Why?

 

Although McLean is a public school, county funding pays only for coaches’ stipends, game officials and buses for athletic events. The remainder of the athletic budget of over $102,000 is supplemented by Booster efforts such as membership & season passes, apparel sales, snack bar and our annual golf tournament. Last year, the Boosters contributed over $50,000 to the sports program at McLean. 

 

What did this money buy?

 

Last year, Booster funds paid for field maintenance, Varsity letters and awards, the Varsity Sports Banquet, coaches’ and trainers’ clinics, a new athletic training compression machine and vertical leap testing machine. We also created the Demby Banbury Commemorative Garden and supported the Mural in the Football Stadium. Our Capital Improvements included the installation of Bermuda grass on the Practice and Field Hockey/Softball Fields.

 

Our continued effort will not only supplement this year’s Athletic budget but help fund additional Capital Improvements to include additional murals, an Entrance Gate to the Stadium, an asphalt walkway between the Baseball & Softball Fields and new Scoreboards.

 

The intangible benefit the Boosters provide is contributing to the impact that the Athletic Program as a whole has on the high school experience of our students. McLean High School has over 22 athletic teams all of which contribute to the spirit and energy of our high school community. Most likely your student’s high school years have been enriched by the McLean Highlander athletic program through participation either as an athlete or a fan. Please help us to keep the tradition alive and join the McLean Highlander Boosters.
